Studies were conducted on the incidence, intensity of infestation, infestation grade index and natural enemy complex rugose spiralling whitefly (RSW) Aleurodicus rugioperculatus Martin infesting coconut palms so as to evolve ecofriendly IPM. RSW incidence was at peak in June 2018 (38.3%), subsequently declined December (20.5%), but later attained again March 2019 (47.5%). First Report on the Whitefly, Aleurodicus pseudugesii on the Coconut Palm, Cocos nucifera in Brazil
The coconut palm, Cocos nucifera L. (Arecales: Arecaceae), is currently grown extensively throughout the intertropical zones of the world, including Brazil, where it constitutes an important source of income for growers. Although whiteflies are not normally considered coconut pests, these insects can damage crops directly by sucking the sap, which weakens the plant; indirect damage may be cause...

Biological control using entomopathogenic fungi could be a promising alternative to chemical control. Entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin, Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin, Lecanicillium lecanii (Zimmerm.) Zare and Gams, and Paecilomyces fumosoroseus (Wize) Brown and Smith, were tested for their pathogenicity, ovicidal effect, and median lethal concentrat...

BACKGROUND Nephaspis indus Gordon, 1996 was imported into Taiwan from Hawaii in 1990 as a biological control agent for the spiralling whitefly, Aleurodicus dispersus Russell, 1965 (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae). However, its establishment was not known prior to this study. NEW INFORMATION Nephaspis indus Gordon, 1996, a natural enemy of Aleurodicus dispersus Russell (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) native ...

متن کاملThey are Different: Molecular Approach on Tirathaba Pest Infesting Oil Palm and Coconut Tree
High infestation rate of Tirathaba mundella was reported from many oil palm plantations established on peat Masijan et al. [1]. The infestation is identified by the presence of long tubes of silk and frass which is built by the pest. The larvae stage of pest does most of the damage by feeding or scraping leaving holes on immature fruitlets. Larvae of early instar stage often attack on male infl...
